It was of course meant to read:

"Well, George, we knocked that bastard off" (which is what Hillary said when they came down from summit 60 years ago)....knew I should have check but far too excited at time of writing..

To be sure: no buggers, bastards or anybody else has been "knocked off" anywhere or any thing and certainly not by Jan (one certainly does not want to spread rumours in a year where there have been fisticuffs on the mountain)!! 

But to the point: we have another update. Jan has made it to Camp 2 today (at 6400m) and is in relative comfort plus there is a cook there permanently so he will get some real food and unlimited snacks (though for the real treats he'll still have to come HOME) and most importantly, a good solid rest before embarking on the final challenging bit tomorrow  morning: descending through the ice fall to base camp. Frankly I am pleased, as you don't want to be doing the ice fall when you are really really tired.

He's well but obv still exhausted. And happy.
